Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment will begin on August 27, 2018 and end on September 21, 2018.  Open Enrollment is the ONLY time during the year when insurance changes can be made.  Only during this period may you transfer from one medical and/or dental carrier to another or add eligible dependents not already covered by your insurance plan.  All changes, including transfers and additions, will be effective October 1, 2018. 

The following dependents may be added to your coverage at any time of the year within thirty-one (31) days from the date of: 1) newborn; 2) legally adopted children; 3) new spouse/domestic partner.  Dependents may be deleted from your coverage at any time during the year.

For your convenience, application forms are made available through the District website under Open Enrollment - Forms, at the Open Enrollment sessions, or by contacting Rita Encalada, Employee Benefits Technician, at (310) 676-2276, ext. 3967 or at rencalada@hawthorne.k12.ca.us. 

All completed forms must be returned to Rita Encalada no later than September 21, 2018. 

Open Enrollment meetings will be held from 3:00PM to 5:00PM on the following dates:

At the Open Enrollment meetings listed above, representatives from AFLAC and SchoolsFirst will be available to discuss flexible spending account plans, 403(b)s, Roth 403(b)s, 457, tax-sheltered annuities, and other supplemental plans.
